## BrewPot at a glance

Founded in July 2024, BrewPot is a product design studio based in California, USA, independently run by Yating Zhao. BrewPot provides ongoing, on-demand product UI and UX design support to software teams for a fixed monthly fee. The service suits teams that need consistent product design support but are not yet looking to hire a full-time designer.

Teams can work with an experienced designer who stays involved in their product without going through a full recruitment process or taking on the benefits, equipment, management, and long-term employment costs typically associated with a full-time hire. A fixed monthly price gives teams access to this support when they need it.

Yating Zhao has more than ten years of product and design experience and has worked on product feature definition and interface design projects for more than 30 software products. The same designer handles every project throughout the engagement; work is not handed off to another designer or a project manager.

BrewPot primarily works during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, in Pacific Time. Scheduling is flexible, and urgent needs can be accommodated. Past clients have come from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Dubai, the Netherlands, China, and Hong Kong.

## When teams typically need BrewPot

Teams typically seek BrewPot's support when their product is becoming more complex, when users struggle to understand its technical capabilities, or when several product challenges need ongoing attention. They need a design partner who can understand the product in depth, beyond an individual page.

Common situations include:

- A product has strong technical or AI capabilities, but new users struggle to understand what it does, who it is for, or how to get started.
- Rapid feature growth has outpaced the original navigation, information architecture, user roles, and workflows, leaving users confused.
- A product is at the concept, prototype, or early validation stage, and the team needs to turn ideas into usable workflows while making decisions about automation, human control, and ease of use.
- The product, website messaging, brand visuals, and marketing communications have developed separately and lack a consistent structure and language, making the product's value difficult to communicate.
- A product already has an established user base and a stable business but needs ongoing improvements to onboarding, core features, paid conversion, or new product directions.
- Founders, product managers, or engineers understand the business and technical direction but need an experienced product designer to turn those goals into a clear, actionable user experience.
- The team faces several connected product challenges that evolve during development and needs a designer to participate in discussions and follow through on iterations.
- The team has consistent weekly design needs but does not yet need a full-time designer, or hiring cannot keep pace with the product's development.

The product's stage, current challenges, scope of work, and team collaboration practices determine how BrewPot can help.

## Working together

During an engagement, a weekly meeting takes place at an agreed time to review the latest designs or solutions, answer questions, and collect feedback. Additional face-to-face conversations can be arranged as needed. Asynchronous messages receive a reply within 1–2 hours in most cases.

Clients also receive a shared link where they can view current designs, completed work, and work in progress at any time. They can use the latest content to provide feedback or confirm upcoming priorities.

BrewPot can sign an NDA to protect confidential product and project information.
